TİKA Supports The Royal Bhutan Police

Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) provided equipment support for four sets of Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS) to the Royal Bhutan Police.

The device set, consisting of 3 fingerprint registration and verification stations and 1 mobile express identity inspection station, was delivered to the authorities through a ceremony held in Thimpu, the capital of the Kingdom of Bhutan with a population of 1 million in the Eastern Himalayas, with the participation of the Royal Bhutan Police and TİKA officials.

Speaking at the delivery ceremony, the Deputy Police Chief, Colonel Pasang Dorji emphasized that the devices provided by TİKA would strengthen the existing systems and improve the public service. Stating that the two countries are geographically located far from each other but the support of Türkiye as a developing country to Bhutan and Bhutan police draws the people of the two countries closer to each other, Dorji stressed that incidents happening anywhere in today’s world, especially like crime and terrorism, could easily affect other countries no matter the distance is. Dorji highlighted that they wish to benefit from the experiences of Türkiye in security issues and that they know very well about the competences of their Turkish colleagues with whom they worked together on several international missions and thanked TİKA and the Turkish people.
