08 October 2021TİKA Supports the Improvement of Water Quality and Sanitation in Iraq
The “Drinking Water Sanitation Facility,” which was modernized by Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA), was put into service in Al-Radwaniyah, Baghdad.
TİKA completed the project for the modernization of the water treatment plants of Salaam and Makasib, which serve approximately 40,000 people in total in the district of Al-Radwaniyah in Baghdad, the capital of Iraq. As part of the project, the water pumps connected to the main transmission line were renovated with the installation of an aluminum sulphate water purification system and chlorination systems.
Since these treatment plants were old and could not operate at full capacity, local people faced problems with access to clean water every season. With the project it implemented, TİKA modernized the two treatment plants in the region and facilitated access to clean water.
The modernized plants will provide clean drinking water to approximately 40,000 people living in Al-Radwaniyah.
