TİKA Supports the Cultural Event “Ben Bir Sakayım” (“I Am a Water Carrier”) from Karabakh to Gallipoli

The Education, Sports, Culture, and Arts Association held the cultural event “Ben Bir Sakayım” (“I Am a Water Carrier”) from March 17 to 19, 2022, in cooperation with Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA), YTB, TOLEYIS, and Fatih Municipality.

As part of the event, the cultural and historical partnership between Türkiye and Azerbaijan in the historical process from the Gallipoli Victory to the Karabakh Victory were described based on the story of Hüseyin the Water Carrier.

13 children from Azerbaijan and their parents visited Türkiye as part of the event, which aimed to bring together the orphans of Azerbaijani Turkish heroes of the Karabakh War as “contemporary water carriers,” and their Azerbaijan Turkish grandfathers who were martyred in the Gallipoli Campaign 107 years ago.

As part of the event, which was supported by TİKA, Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB), Türkiye's Hotel Restaurant and Entertainment Workers Trade Union (TOLEYIS), and Fatih Municipality, children poured water on the graves of martyrs from the jugs filled in Azerbaijan.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and MHP’s Leader Devlet Bahçeli met with Azerbaijani children at the events held on March 18, 2022, on the occasion of the 107^th Anniversary of the Gallipoli Victory.
