04 July 2022TİKA Supports the 4th International Silk Road Conference
Ankara Center for Thought and Research (ACTR) and the National University of Sciences & Technology (NUST) in Pakistan held a conference on “Improving the Economic, Social, and Political Relations between Türkiye and Pakistan” in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan, on June 25 and 26, 2022, with the support of Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA).
The 16th International Social Sciences and the 4th International Silk Road Conference was held by Ankara Center for Thought and Research (ACTR) at the Conference Hall of the National University of Sciences & Technology (NUST) in Pakistan. Faculty members and specialists from Türkiye and Pakistan attended the conference. The conference featured presentations on several topics such as the Future of the Relations between Türkiye and Pakistan, Islamic Banking and Finance, the Importance of the Exchange of Agricultural Policies and Knowledge between Türkiye and Pakistan, Cooperation on Humanitarian Assistance, and the Impact of the Belt and Road Initiative on the Relations between Türkiye and Pakistan.
Prof. Mehmet Bulut, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of ACTR, stated that Türkiye has a thousand-year-old relationship with the region, and stressed the importance of creating tools for the two countries to benefit from the idea of reviving the Silk Road.
Rizwan Riaz, Deputy Rector of NUST, noted that joint academic studies would contribute to the improvement of the relations between Türkiye and Pakistan, which are natural partners.
The conference ended with the joint evaluation meeting between Ankara Center for Thought and Research and the National University of Sciences & Technology. The Center will compile the presentations into a book and make the book available to faculty members from both countries.
