TİKA Supports Students with Disabilities in Bangladesh

Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) provided equipment to students with disabilities living in Sreepur, Gazipur.

TİKA provided students with equipment including 50 wheelchairs, 40 hearing aids, 50 walking canes, 100 school bags, 50 commode chairs, and 2 special needs tricycles in order to help them continue their studies more easily.

The delivery ceremony held at the Office of the Governor of Gazipur was attended by Mustafa Osman Turan, Turkey’s Ambassador to Bangladesh; Mohammad Iqbal Hossain, MP for Gazipur; Tariqul Islam, Governor of Gazipur; Md. Toriqul Islam, District Governor of Sreepur; other officials; students; and their families.

In his speech at the ceremony, MP for Gazipur thanked Turkey, stating that Turkey and Bangladesh are two friendly countries, that Turkey has always supported Bangladesh during the Rohingya conflict, and that this kind assistance was very valuable.

Ambassador Mustafa Osman Turan also delivered a speech and said, “We still remember the support provided to us by Bengali Muslims during the national struggle. Such projects strengthen our friendly relations.”

In his speech, İsmail Gündoğdu, TİKA’s Dhaka Coordinator, noted that since the opening of TİKA’s Dhaka Office in 2014, they have implemented dozens of projects in the fields of education, health, and social care not only in Dhaka, but all over the country. He said he was pleased with this meaningful project, which was implemented for school-age children.

The ceremony ended after the distribution of the equipment to children.
