TİKA Supports Scientific Research in Bosnia and Herzegovina

Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) provided the University of Sarajevo with a high-technology Atomic Force Microscope developed and manufactured in Turkey with the support of TÜBİTAK.

The device, which can be used in all scientific studies in Bosnia and Herzegovina, produces high-resolution and high-quality images. All institutions conducting scientific research, especially in the fields of physics, chemistry, materials science, mechanical engineering, and industrial engineering, will be able to use this device, which is the first high-technology Atomic Force Microscope in the country.

From February 25 to 26, 2021, a specialist from Turkey provided technical training on the use of the microscope for the academic staff conducting studies in the relevant fields in the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Sarajevo.

The ceremony held after the training was attended by Prof. Muris Torlak, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Sarajevo; Muhammed Ünal, TİKA’s Sarajevo Program Coordinator; and academics and researchers from the University of Sarajevo, the International University of Sarajevo, the University of Tuzla, and the University of Travnik.

In his speech at the ceremony, Vice Dean Prof. Muris Torlak thanked TİKA for providing such valuable equipment for academic studies and organizing the necessary training courses. Torlak stated that he hoped the cooperation between the two countries would increase in every field, helping them to achieve progress.

Muhammed Ünal, TİKA’s Sarajevo Program Coordinator, said he was very happy that a domestic and national device manufactured in Turkey would be used in research and development projects in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Noting that the two countries were getting closer day by day, which would soon lead to win-win situations in all industries, Ünal concluded his speech by expressing his hope that the Atomic Force Microscope would be useful to all the researchers and academics in the country.
