TİKA Supports People with Disabilities in Chile

Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) renovated and equipped the Patagonia Workshop in Coyhaique, where people with disabilities engage in food production, in order to promote the economic and social integration of people with disabilities.

Located in Coyhaique, Aysén, the Patagonia Workshop is the only workshop where people with disabilities produce various food products, and is an important production facility that promotes the economic and social integration of local people with disabilities.

As part of the project, TİKA renovated the workshop and provided the necessary equipment and machinery to improve the production activities in the kitchen. The project is intended to benefit 3 trainers and 50 people with cognitive and physical disabilities.

At the opening ceremony of the project, which was implemented by Chile’s Solidarity and Social Investment Fund (FOSIS) and TİKA, Felipe Bettancourt, Executive Director of FOSIS, noted that the renovated workshop would break new ground in the region, and thanked TİKA for its contribution to the project.

Gülcan Akoğuz, the Republic of Turkey’s Ambassador to Santiago, said she hoped that the renovated workshop would be useful to the people of Coyhaique, and that their cooperation would continue.
