TİKA Supports Palestine’s Fight against COVID19

Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) provided disinfectants and cleaning supplies to Palestine to combat the outbreak of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Palestine’s Minister of Health Mai al-Kaila and TİKA’s Palestine Coordinator Ahmet Refik Çetinkaya attended the delivery ceremony held at Palestine’s Ministry of Health in Ramallah. In her speech, Mai al-Kaila said, “We received the cleaning supplies and disinfectants provided by TİKA to ensure the safety of our central laboratories and our staff working there.” Underlining the long-standing relationship between Turkey and Palestine, Mai al-Kaila thanked the Turkish government and the Turkish people for their assistance. 

In his speech, TİKA’s Palestine Coordinator Çetinkaya stressed that Turkey will always be there for the Palestinian people and that the friendship between the two countries is eternal. Çetinkaya also said that the materials delivered were part of the assistance to be provided in the coming days to support Palestine’s fight against the COVID-19 outbreak.

In the statement released by Palestine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs yesterday, it was noted that the request made to Turkey for financial and medical assistance to combat COVID-19 was accepted. It was also stated that the preparations for the supply of virus testing equipment, masks, gowns, and other basic equipment were completed and that the Ministry hoped these medical supplies would reach the Ministry of Health soon.
