TİKA Supports Orphans and Children with Disabilities in Romania

Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) inaugurated and fully equipped the Oral and Dental Health Clinic, where children and young people who are orphans, disabled, or in need of care and protection will be treated, in Constanța, Romania in cooperation with Constanța General Directorate for Social Assistance and Child Protection.

Built in Traian Orphanage in cooperation with Constanța General Directorate for Social Assistance and Child Protection, the Oral and Dental Health Clinic will serve the orphans and low-income children in the orphanage free of charge, including those with disabilities and in need of care. As part of the project, the renovation and medical equipment of the area allocated for the clinic were completed, and the clinic became operational with 2 dentists.

The clinic was inaugurated with a ceremony attended by the Republic of Turkey’s Ambassador to Bucharest Füsun Aramaz, Deputy Governor of Constanța Ali Şenol, Director General for Constanța Social Assistance and Child Protection Petre Dinica, TİKA Bucharest Coordinator Yasemin Melez Biçer, Secretary General of Constanța Mariana Belu, and the employees of Constanța General Directorate for Social Assistance and Child Protection. After the ceremony, gifts were distributed to 53 children and young people staying in the orphanage.

Built in Traian Orphanage, which currently houses 53 children with disabilities and orphans, the clinic will provide free oral and dental health service to both children in the orphanage and the registered people who are homeless, disabled, or in need.

Two dentists assigned by the Ministry will serve in the center, which includes examination and waiting rooms equipped with modern and medical devices after the renovation. The project was carried out in cooperation with the General Directorate for Social Assistance and Child Protection, which plays an important role in the reintegration of children who are orphans, disabled, or in need into the society.

The center, which was built by TİKA, performed the treatments and oral and dental health screenings of orphans and children with disabilities, who generally have congenital oral and dental health conditions, and enabled the low-income citizens and orphans in the region to access oral and dental health services, to which they had almost no access.
