TİKA Supports Kyrgyzstan’s Fight against COVID19

Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) provided food parcels, personal protective equipment, and hygiene products to the elderly, people with disabilities, and families in need who live under challenging conditions in the province of Chuy, which was adversely affected by the COVID-19 outbreak, in cooperation with the Ministry of Labor and Social Development and the Red Crescent Society of Kyrgyzstan.

TİKA delivered 400 food parcels, 1000 protective masks, 1000 protective gloves, 100 protective coveralls, 100 safety glasses, and 430 antiseptic solutions to the Red Crescent Society of Kyrgyzstan to be delivered to those in need in Kyrgyzstan. The delivery of the aid parcels and equipment to those in need has begun in cooperation with the Ministry of Labor and Social Development and the Red Crescent Society of Kyrgyzstan.

In his speech at the delivery ceremony held in the office of the Red Crescent Society of Kyrgyzstan, TİKA’s Bishkek Program Office Coordinator Ali Muslu said that Turkey would continue to provide assistance to Kyrgyzstan and that they were carrying out the procedures to transfer a part of the Kyrgyzstan-Turkey Friendship Hospital to the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic to combat the pandemic.

Cengiz Cakıpov, Chairman of the Red Crescent Society of Kyrgyzstan, said, “I would like to thank the Republic of Turkey and TİKA for their support on behalf of the Red Crescent Society of Kyrgyzstan and the 400 families in need.”

TİKA and the Red Crescent Society of Kyrgyzstan had previously provided wheelchairs to people with disabilities and distributed food parcels to families in need.

As part of the same project, TİKA collaborated with the Ministry of Labor and Social Development and delivered food parcels to 100 families in need and personal protective equipment and hygiene products to the Ministry staff. The parcels and materials were delivered at a ceremony attended by Mr. Ulukbek Kochkorov, Minister of Labor and Social Development of Kyrgyzstan. Expressing his gratitude to the Turkish people for the assistance, Minister Kochkorov said, “We will never forget the friendly and sister countries that remember and support the Kyrgyz people in these difficult times.”

TİKA also carries out the procedures to transfer the Bishkek Kyrgyzstan-Turkey Friendship Hospital, which it has recently built and equipped with medical devices, to Kyrgyzstan’s Ministry of Health to combat the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, personal protective equipment and hygiene products will be delivered to protect healthcare providers from the coronavirus.

As part of the project, TİKA will also provide 500 food parcels, 4500 protective masks, 4500 protective gloves, 500 protective coveralls, 500 safety glasses, and 1000 antiseptic solutions in cooperation with the Red Crescent Society of Kyrgyzstan, Kyrgyzstan’s Ministry of Labor and Social Development, and Kyrgyzstan’s Ministry of Health to be delivered to those in need.
