TİKA Supports Female Entrepreneurs in South Africa

Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) and the Independent Industrialists' and Businessmen's Association (MUSIAD) contribute to the development of South Africa by supporting female entrepreneurs.

A program was conducted by TİKA and MUSIAD at the Yunus Emre Institute in Johannesburg, South Africa, to support female entrepreneurs who would like to start or expand their businesses. During the 3-day training program, 18 women were provided with applied training in entrepreneurship, innovation, business plan creation, and communication in order to support female entrepreneurs. At the end of the training, the trainees put their ideas into practice by creating a business plan.

In her speech at the certificate presentation ceremony held at the end of the program, Ayşegül Kandaş, Turkey’s Ambassador to Pretoria, stated that women's entrepreneurship is one of the most important tools to stop violence against women and that they would continue to support such programs conducted for women.

At the ceremony, Nafisa Hadji, Head of the Women’s Branch of MUSIAD South Africa, said, “We believe that female entrepreneurs can play a major role in the development of the relations between Turkey and South Africa.”

The Program for Supporting Female Entrepreneurs aims to support female entrepreneurs in other parts of South Africa by providing post-training mentoring to 18 women who attended the training.
