TİKA Supports Farmers in Mindanao

Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) donated agricultural equipment and vegetable seeds to agricultural cooperatives in Mindanao, which is located in the southern Philippines and heavily populated by Muslims.

Having gained autonomy with the adoption of the Bangsamoro Organic Law in 2019, Moro Muslims are developing projects to establish peace in the region and provide former fighters with employment opportunities in various industries. The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Agrarian Reform, which coordinates these efforts, aims to disarm former fighters and enable them to become landowners and engage in agricultural production.

Agricultural equipment and seeds were provided

TİKA supported 5 different agricultural cooperatives in Mindanao, located in the southern Philippines, and donated many pieces of agricultural equipment and vegetable seeds. In his speech at the delivery ceremony held by TİKA’s Program Coordination Office in Manila; Mohammad Yacob, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Agrarian Reform of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (BARMM), said, “Thanks to TİKA, hundreds of farmers were provided with the necessary equipment to engage in agricultural activities.”

Yacob thanked the government and citizens of Türkiye for their efforts for establishing peace in the region.
