TİKA Supports Education in Chad

Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) built a solar lighting and drinking water system at the University of Science and Technology of Ati in Chad.

TİKA created a better learning environment for more than 800 students by building a solar lighting and drinking water system at the University of Science and Technology of Ati, located 450 km from N'Djamena, the capital of Chad.

Students and teachers now have access to clean drinking water thanks to the drinking water system built by the Agency, and a campus area that is well-lit 24 hours a day thanks to the solar-powered and battery-operated automated lighting fixtures provided as part of the project.

The opening ceremony held for the project was attended by Djimta Bergon, Governor of Batha; Mayor of Ati; Rector of the University of Ati; and Melih Mücahid Ateş, TİKA’s N'Djamena Program Coordinator.

Djimta Bergon, Governor of Batha, thanked the Republic of Turkey and TİKA and said he was happy that the issue of access to clean drinking water, one of the main problems of the University of Ati, the only university in the region, was solved by this project and that students would be able to benefit more from the school thanks to the automated lighting system.
