Within the context of the "Increasing the Quality of Life of Djiboutian Children Suffering from Cerebral Palsy Project", Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) and the Djiboutian National Agency for People with Disabilities (ANPH) provided adjustable wheelchairs to 31 Djiboutian children.
Turkish Ambassador to Djibouti Salim Levent Şahinkaya, TİKA Coordinator Kutluhan Yücel and Director General of ANPH Doualeh Said Mohamoud, ANPH officials and local press members attended the delivery ceremony held at the Djiboutian National Agency for People with Disabilities (ANPH).
Speaking at the ceremony, Turkish Ambassador to Djibouti Salim Levent Şahinkaya stated that TİKA and ANPH have been cooperating for many years and this cooperation should be enhanced further. Şahinkaya noted that there are many established systems in Turkey for disabled people due to a large disabled population and that Djibouti can benefit from Turkey's know-how in this area.
On the other hand, TİKA Coordinator Kutluhan Yücel said that children suffering from cerebral palsy would have a better life thanks to these chairs which have advanced features, and expressed how happy he was to have realized this project on behalf of TİKA by referring to the scope of the project.
Noting that TİKA has always supported people with disabilities, the Director General of ANPH Doualeh Said Mohamoud said the project responded to many of the needs of disabled people and that they always wanted to see Turkey by their side.
After the ceremony, the wheelchairs received by ANPH were distributed in the ANPH complex and sent to the Balbala Public Hospital's Orthopedic Rehabilitation Center and to the addresses of the beneficiary families in the first week of October.
