TİKA Supports Bosnian Female Farmers

Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) provided a fruit and vegetable drying oven to the Women’s Association “Most,” which operates in Jablanica, Bosnia and Herzegovina.

TİKA supported the Women’s Association “Most,” which operates in Jablanica, Bosnia and Herzegovina, by providing the industrial fruit and vegetable drying oven it needed to increase its production capacity. The delivery ceremony held at the Women’s Association “Most” in Jablanica was attended by Ćamila Imamović, the chair of the association; Muhammed Ünal, TİKA’s Program Coordinator in Sarajevo; Instructor Sanja Jukić; and members of the association.

Imamović thanked TİKA for its support

Chair Imamović stated that development can only be achieved through the joint participation of women and men, who make up a society, and that the Association aimed to improve the economic and social status of women in the society. Imamović noted that they did not only provide training, but also carried out income-generating activities through the processing and drying of the fruits and vegetables grown by their members. Imamović thanked TİKA on behalf of all the members of the association for the machinery it provided.

Women’s economic empowerment will be supported

Muhammed Ünal, TİKA’s Program Coordinator in Sarajevo, stated that he was happy with TİKA’s support for projects aiming to help women achieve the status they deserve in the society and to contribute to their economic empowerment. He stressed that the industrial fruit and vegetable drying oven they provided would help feed surplus produce into the market and increase the income of the members of the association. Ünal added that Türkiye launched efforts to develop female farmers and equip them better.

About the Women’s Association “Most”

Founded in 2009, the Women’s Association “Most” in Jablanica carries out its operations in the indoor area allocated by Jablanica Municipality. With its 120 members from Jablanica and nearby regions, the association operates in the fields of women’s rights, employment, and the improvement of educational opportunities. The objectives of the association are as follows: to strengthen women’s status in the society, to carry out activities to help them contribute to the economy and earn income, and to combat violence against women.

Bosnian women sell their products at trade shows

The association offers training to women free of charge at its handicraft workshop. It has another workshop for the processing and packaging of the fruits and vegetables grown by the members. TİKA supported the association by providing an industrial oven to be used at this workshop. Products such as fruit juice, jams, marmalades, and pekmez produced within the association are sold at trade shows, contracted points of sales, and the headquarters of the association and provide members with a source of income.
