TİKA Supports Beekeeping in North Macedonia

Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) provided honey production equipment to beekeepers in Lozovo Municipality in eastern North Macedonia as part of the “Project for the Development of Beekeeping in North Macedonia.”

TİKA trained beekeepers from Kumanovo (Rahmanlı, Güreler), Lozovo (Durfulija), Karbinci (Radanje), Štip (Penuš), and Konče and provided them with beehives with bees and honey production equipment.

The distribution ceremony held for the beekeeping equipment provided for 23 families in the region was attended by Halim Ömer Söğüt, TİKA’s Skopje Coordinator; Aco Velkovski, Mayor of Lozovo; and beekeepers.

In his speech at the ceremony, Söğüt stated that they supported beekeepers in Lozovo, Štip, Karbinci, and other regions as part of the project. Noting that they were together with people from different regions, Söğüt said, “It is an indicator of the friendly relations between Turkey and North Macedonia and the progress of the cooperation between the two countries.” Söğüt stressed that the event was not only related to the donation of beekeeping equipment, and that it would contribute to the increase in the honey production in the country.

Velkovski noted that the event was of great importance for Lozovo Municipality. He said, “The support provided by TİKA to beekeepers will not only contribute to the development of beekeeping and agriculture in our municipality, but will also have a direct impact on the local economic development of the municipality.”

Each family will be given 10 beehives with bees as part of the project. On the other hand, TİKA will distribute beekeeping equipment to 27 families in the village of Zdunje, Gostivar, on July 16, and will have reached a total of 50 families as part of the project.
