TİKA Supports Agriculture And Livestock In Afghanistan

Maydan Shahr Milk Collection and Refrigeration Center has been set up in the Maydan Shahr district of Wardak Province, Afghanistan.

İsmet Yılmaz, the Minister of National Defense of Turkey, Zübeyir Kemelek, the governer of Sivas, Basat Öztürk, the Ambassador of Kabul, Abdul Mecit Hugyani, the Governor of Meydan Wardak, Muzaffer Yüksel, Reconstruction Team Coordinator of Wardak Provincial, Brigadier General Ali Rıza Kuğu, TİKA Authorities, Other Local Authorities and Press Members attended this ceremony.

The economy of Maydan Shahr district of Wardak consists of agricultural and animal production. Milk processing, evaluating and marketing are being done under bad conditions. For this reason, producers lost their revenues. With the Maydan Shahr Milk Collection and Refrigeration Center, it is aimed to increase revenues.

İsmet Yılmaz, the Minister of National Defense of Turkey and accompanying delegation visited “Wardak Maydan Shahr Agriculture and Veterinary Institute” and “Maydan Shahr Cold Store” and he got information from authorities.

Wardak Maydan Shahr Agriculture and Veterinary Institute

Wardak Province has the characteristics of grain silo for periphery regions and Kabul. To carry out works on development of agriculture and livestock, Agriculture and Veterinary Vocational High School was established in 2008. In the year of 2010, the school was converted into Agriculture and Veterinary Institution. Agriculture and Veterinary Institution have still been continuing both as a high school and an institute.

Maydan Shahr and Saydabat Cold Store

With the contribution of TİKA, cold stores were established in Wardak Province of Saydabat City and Maydan Shahr. Thanks to these cold stores, the Wardak Province has started to export apple.
