TİKA Supports Agricultural Production in Cameroon

Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) built a warehouse and provided equipment for a cooperative operating in the village of Kôndômeyôs in central Cameroon in order to increase productivity.

A warehouse was built for the cooperative, which grows pineapples on a land of nearly 1.5 hectares in the village of Kôndômeyôs, in order to enable the pineapples grown to be stored without spoiling and protected from environmental factors. The solar panels installed on the roof of the warehouse built will meet the energy needs of the warehouse and the existing chicken coops.

The project, which included the donation of equipment and materials, aims to increase the pineapple production from 3 tonnes to 5 tonnes, enable products to be brought to the market quickly with a three-wheeled cargo motorcycle, and minimize the waste.

In addition, as the previously idle areas are now used in production, the number of employees in the cooperative increased, and new job opportunities were created in the region.
