TİKA Shares Turkey's Experience in Fight Against Drugs with Friendly Nations

With the cooperation of Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) and the Turkish Justice Academy, the "Online Colloquium on Fight Against Crimes Related to Drugs and Stimulants" was organized for the judges and prosecutors in Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Pakistan.

As part of the program, seminars were given on various topics such as Turkey's Policies and Strategies in Fight Against Drug-Related Crimes, Narco-terrorism, Forensic Medicine Procedures in Fight Against Drugs, International Judicial Cooperation in Investigations and Prosecutions for Drug-related Crimes.

TİKA’s Vice President Dr. Rahman Nurdun expressed his pleasure about creating projects in order to improve legal and forensic areas during his speech at the opening ceremony of the colloquium, which was attended by 39 judges, prosecutors and legal experts from 9 countries. Dr. Nurdun stated that it was their responsibility to protect the rights of the people who have been directly and indirectly affected by drug trafficking in addition to eliminating the reasons behind drug-related crimes. He added that the best way to provide that was to increase cooperation between the countries and to find a common ground for proposed solutions. Muhittin Özdemir, Head of the Turkish Justice Academy, said that his greatest wish was to share their experience and best practices in the fight against drugs with this colloquium.

As part of the two-day colloquium, various seminars were given for judges and prosecutors attending from 9 countries. TİKA plans to continue various training programs for judges and prosecutors in cooperation with the Justice Academy within the context of the Judicial Services Training Program.
