26 June 2019TİKA Share Turkey’s Experience In The Health Field With Tajikistan
With the support of Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) and in cooperation with Tajikistan's Ministry of Health and Social Protection, Turkey's Experience in Neonatal Health is Being Transferred to Tajikistan.
Neonatal Resuscitation Trainings, another training program carried out under TİKA's Mother-Child Health Support Program, were held in Tajikistan's capital Dushanbe.
Last year, Tajikistan was added to the list of countries in which the Mother-Child Health Support Program had been ongoing for 6 years, and the first training on the importance of hearing screening tests for newborns was completed. A delegation of 8 people consisting of doctors who are successful in the training programs will take part in further trainings to be held in Turkey in the upcoming days, and hearing screening devices will be donated to the hospitals these individuals are employed in.
Neonatal Resuscitation Trainings, another training program carried out under the Mother-Child Health Support Program, were held in Tajikistan's capital Dushanbe. The purpose of this training is to teach health professionals how to intervene in undesirable situations relating to the baby's health that may arise during delivery. The trainings aim to reduce infant mortality rates and prevent babies from becoming disabled individuals due to problems that occur during delivery.
A total of 48 people, including two separate groups of gynecologists, neonatal specialists, midwives and nurses, attended the training program jointly organized by TİKA and Tajikistan's Ministry of Health and Social Protection. Trainees who successfully completed the training offered by expert doctors from Turkey were presented certificates.
First Deputy Minister Umarzoda Saida Gayrat, who attended the ceremony on behalf of Tajikistan's Ministry of Health and Social Protection, gave a speech in which he mentioned that the infant mortality rate in Tajikistan was above the world average and stated that these types of trainings were important opportunities to decrease this rate. Moreover, he expressed his gratitude to TİKA for enabling Turkey to transfer its experience in this field to Tajikistan.
During his speech, TİKA's Dushanbe Program Coordinator Tarık Mete stated that in later stages of the project, trainees who were successful in the trainings in Tajikistan would be trained in Turkey to become trainers and that they would be assigned to work in training programs that would be held in the rural regions of Tajikistan. He emphasized that the long-term goals determined together with Tajikistan's Ministry of Health were oriented towards preventing individuals who had not received neonatal resuscitation training from touching babies during delivery.
