TİKA's Erenler Sofrası Set in Cameroon

As part of the "Erenler Sofrası" Ramadan Program, Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) distributes food packages to 1,200 low-income families in 4 different cities of Cameroon.

Since the year 2021 was declared the year of Yunus Emre, Haji Bektash Veli and Ahi Evran, the spiritual guides of Anatolia; TİKA visited the low-income families in Cameroon with “Erenler Sofrası”.

The handover ceremony, which took place in Douala and Yaoundé, was attended by Cameroonian officials, religious leaders, representatives from non-governmental organizations and the local community. Having taken the floor at the ceremony in Yaoundé, Mohaman Samınou, the Imam of the Yaoundé Central Mosque, expressed his gratitude towards Turkey, stating that Turkey has not forgotten about the poor and the downtrodden this year as well. In his speech, TİKA’s Yaoundé Program Coordinator Burak Özden stated that the messages of peace and solidarity from Turkish people have been delivered all over the world thanks to the "Erenler Sofrası" Ramadan Program.

Thanks to the food aid that has been carried out in 4 different cities of Cameroon, namely Douala, Yaoundé, Ngaoundere and Garoua; it's aimed to support thousands of people living under difficult financial conditions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Containing basic food products such as rice, oil, tomato paste, salt and sugar; 1,200 packages are being handed out to needy people with ceremonies. The low-income people and the elderly, on the other hand, receive their food packages at home.

This year, TİKA has been delivering food supplies to hundreds of thousands of people with Ramadan events organized in 87 countries and 5 continents, sharing our culture of charity and solidarity with different geographical regions.
