TİKA's Erenler Sofrası is in Botswana

As part of the Erenler Sofrası Ramadan Program, Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) distributed food packages to 1,000 families in Botswana in cooperation with the Turkish Embassy in Gaborone.

Within the scope of the decision of the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey to declare 2021 as the Year of Yunus Emre and Turkish Language, the Year of Haji Bektash Veli and the Year of Ahi Evran, the spiritual guides of Anatolia; TİKA delivered Ramadan packages for 1,000 families living in the villages of Botswana as part of the Ramadan program carried out under the name “Erenler Sofrası”, inspired by the values considered as the heart of Anatolia.

TİKA distributed food packages to 1,000 families in Botswana in the month of Ramadan. As part of the project carried out in cooperation with the Turkish Embassy in Gaborone, TİKA reached out a helping hand to the families who have been facing difficulties in accessing food due to the COVID-19 pandemic as well as the conditions in the country.

Whereas the distribution took place in various villages of Botswana such as Moshupa and Ramotswa, the distribution in Moshupa was attended by Meltem Büyükkarakaş, the Ambassador of Turkey in Gaborone, and Karabo Gare, Minister of Agriculture of Botswana. Last year, local community showed utmost gratitude for the food aid project taking place for the first time ever, carried out by TİKA in cooperation with the Turkish Embassy and the Botswana Muslim Association. TİKA continued to reach out a helping hand for the needy families by delivering aid packages to various villages thanks to the contribution made by the Turkish Embassy officials.
