06 May 2021TİKA's Erenler Sofrası is in Bolivia
As part of the "Erenler Sofrası" Ramadan Program, Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) distributed 460 packages containing food, hygiene supplies and personal protective equipment in five cities of Bolivia.
In cooperation with the Bolivia Islam Association, 460 food packages were distributed to helpless families, orphanages, nursing homes and aid centers in the cities of La Paz, Santa Cruz, Cochabamba, Sucre and Oruro.
In his speech during the handover ceremony, Ayman Naim Altaramsi, President of the Bolivia Islamic Union, expressed his gratitude towards Turkey and TİKA for their support in the name of solidarity and brotherhood. The director of the Carlos de Villegas Orphanage in La Paz expressed his gratitude by saying: “We're grateful for the support that you provided for our orphanage. This aid really means a lot to us.”
A representative from the San Ramón Orphanage in La Paz stated that they were delighted by the aid packages that they received and said: “We'd like to thank TİKA for not forgetting about the San Ramón Orphanage in Bolivia. We're grateful for your help. We pray for the humanity to overcome this pandemic. We really thank you, God bless Turkey!”.
Magaly Rojas, a member of the Muslim community in Cochabamba, expressed his gratitude towards Turkey for their support and said: “It's Ramadan, time to think, time to think about others. This is the time when a solidarity manifests itself between Muslims and non-Muslims.” Fernando Arnés, one of the beneficiaries of the project, said: “We are really grateful to Turkey for their help during Ramadan, especially at the time of the pandemic which has shocked the entire world. From Cochabamba, the heart of Bolivia, we'd like to thank you on behalf of our brothers and sisters in this community; Bolivians, Africans, Pakistanis, Palestinians and Egyptians.”
Erenler Sofrası packages were distributed in Santa Cruz in cooperation with the Mi Rancho Association, a charity organization that helps low-income families and homeless children. Isa Amer Quevedo, President of the Bolivia Islamic Center, said: “Good deeds increase in the month of Ramadan. Today, we're delivering the aid packages sent by our Turkish brothers. I'd like to thank Turkey and TİKA, which have always supported us.”
