TİKA's Erenler Sofrası is in Azerbaijan

As part of the "Erenler Sofrası Ramadan Program", Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) has begun the distribution of the aid packages, which will be delivered to 2,500 families in Azerbaijan.

The Ramadan food aid program now continues in Azerbaijan, which has been carried out by Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) under the name “Erenler Sofrası” since the year 2021 was declared as the Year of Yunus Emre, Ahi Evran and Haji Bektash Veli who are the spiritual legacies of Anatolia.

The event was attended by Cahit Bağcı, Ambassador of Turkey in Baku; Fuad Huseynov, Vice President of the State Committee for Affairs of Refugees and IDPs; Gafar Esgerzade, Vice President of Azerbaijan Red Crescent; as well as representatives from TİKA and non-governmental organizations.

In his speech, Ambassador Bağcı stated that Turkey is a country that has been showing serious efforts to stand by the oppressed people all around the world. Having reminded that TİKA is a worldwide organization that has carried out 30,000 projects in 30 years in many areas such as agriculture, animal husbandry, technological equipment and education, Bağcı said: "Today, we are here to reach out a helping hand to the people of Azerbaijan, who have just had sorrowful days in Karabakh. Without doubt, we know how important it is to help people because of our beliefs. We have faith that Allah gives more to the people who give away. We see the help that has been provided by the people and the state of Turkey here, as a reaching hand to the people of Azerbaijan." Having underlined that it is their duty to help the poor and the downtrodden, Bağcı added: "Even if we are left alone, we have always reached out a helping hand all over the world, and we will keep doing so. Turkey has been a friend and a brother to all nations from East to West and North to South. Turkey has helped everyone, without discrimination of any kind of language, religion, race or sect."

TİKA’s Baku Program Coordinator Teoman Tiryaki, on the other hand, made a statement to the press, saying that their organization has delivered aid from Turkey to hundreds of thousands of people in 85 countries during the month of Ramadan. Having reminded that they would be helping 2,500 families in Azerbaijan, Tiryaki expressed that their priorities have been the families of martyrs and veterans, as well as the refugees from Karabakh.
