TİKA Renovated and Equipped Nazmiye Demirel Clinic in Bangladesh

Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) renovated and equipped Nazmiye Demirel Clinic, which it had opened in Bangladesh as an indicator of the ties of friendship between the two countries.

TİKA renovated Nazmiye Demirel Clinic, located in Chittagong, a port city in southern Bangladesh. The opening ceremony held for the clinic was attended by Mustafa Osman Turan, the Republic of Türkiye’s Ambassador to Dhaka; Rezaul Karim Chowdhury, Mayor of Chittagong; Selahaddin Kasım Han, the Republic of Türkiye’s Honorary Consul to Chittagong; and Şevki Mert Barış, TİKA’s Coordinator in Bangladesh.

In his speech at the ceremony, Ambassador Turan stressed the increasing contact between Ankara and Dhaka in the fields of health, agriculture, and culture and stated that the clinic is a symbol of the strong relations between the two countries.

Rezaul Karim Chowdhury, Mayor of Chittagong, referred to the diplomatic relations between Türkiye and Bangladesh in cultural, social, and health fields and noted that Bangladesh would never forget the support provided by TİKA. Chowdhury added that he was confident that the ties of friendship and solidarity between the two countries would become stronger in the future.

Şevki Mert Barış, TİKA’s Coordinator in Bangladesh, stated that TİKA would remain active in Bangladesh and that the sincere ties between these two nations were the greatest source of motivation for future activities. Barış said that he hoped Nazmiye Demirel Clinic would provide the people of Chittagong with easier access to health services.

Nazmiye Demirel Clinic

The clinic was named Nazmiye Demirel during the visit of Süleyman Demirel, the 9th President of the Republic of Türkiye, to Bangladesh from March 26 to 27, 1997 as an indicator of the ties of friendship between the two countries.

The project improves service conditions in the clinic, located in Chittagong, the second largest city in Bangladesh. The Agency aims to provide health services to thousands of people in need with this project.
