TİKA Renovated a High School Destroyed in the War in Kyiv Oblast

Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) renovated Vasylkiv Vocational High School, which is located in Kyiv, Ukraine, and had been destroyed in the war.

Vasylkiv Vocational High School, which is located in southwestern Kyiv and was established in 1962, offers applied tourism education to 395 students. The heavy artillery fire during the attempted invasion completely destroyed one of the two main buildings of the high school and severely damaged the windows of the other service building, which nonetheless remained standing.

As part of TİKA’s project, the windows and frames of the building that remained standing were replaced, while the rooms in the sewing workshop were renovated in order to move the sewing department in the building to be demolished to the building standing.

The opening ceremony held for the project was attended by Yağmur Ahmet Güldere, the Republic of Türkiye’s Ambassador to Kyiv; Vira Rohova, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine; Natalia Gunko, Chairperson of the Kyiv Oblast Council; Zhanna Osypenko, Deputy Head of the Kyiv Oblast State Administration; Cüneyt Esmer, TİKA’s Program Coordinator in Kyiv, Ukraine; Lyudmila Postolenko, Principal of Vasylkiv Vocational High School; and many teachers and students.
