TİKA Put a Smile on the Faces of Orphans in Kabul during Eid al-Fitr

Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) held an Eid Festival for the students of Turkish-Afghan Friendship Alawuddin Orphanage in Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan. 

100 orphaned students attended the “Eid al-Fitr Festival,” held by TİKA’s Program Coordination Office in Kabul for the students of Turkish-Afghan Friendship Alawuddin Orphanage in Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan, on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr. The carousel and ice cream, cotton candy, and popcorn stalls set up on the campus of the orphanage, as well as the entertainment team and cartoon mascots, enlivened the event.

The Eid festival at Turkish-Afghan Friendship Alawuddin Orphanage was attended by Cihad Erginay, the Republic of Türkiye’s Ambassador to Kabul; Sinan Uyar, Military Attaché​ at the Turkish Embassy in Kabul; Ali Tolga Kocatepe, Deputy Clerk at the Turkish Embassy in Kabul; Azize Azizi, Director for Dormitories at Alawuddin Orphanage; Zühtü Çal, TİKA’s Coordinator in Kabul; and the orphanage staff.

In his speech, Ambassador Erginay said, “We do our bests not to leave children feeling alone in this Eid al-Fitr, as we did during the entire month of Ramadan. Both our government and NGOs have carried out great activities in Afghanistan. We are very pleased to spend time with Afghan children on this important day at this meaningful event. Türkiye will continue to be there for orphans in Afghanistan.” Erginay stated that he was happy to meet with the residents of the orphanage, and expressed his gratitude to TİKA’s Coordination Office in Kabul for holding the event.

Zühtü Çal, TİKA’s Coordinator in Kabul, delivered a speech, stressed the importance of the day, and noted that it was invaluable to spend time with orphans and see the happiness on their faces on this special occasion.

Azizi, Director for Dormitories at Alawuddin Orphanage, thanked TİKA for its support, stating that the Agency had previously carried out several assistance activities and that the activities carried out and the events held made children very happy.
