09 January 2021TİKA Provides Workshop Equipment for Algerian Women
Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) provided machinery and equipment to support the establishment of spice processing workshops in 3 different regions for women who live in rural areas in Algeria.
TİKA provided the machinery and equipment required for the stages of drying, chopping, and vacuuming in spice production in cooperation with AFUD Rural Women’s Association, which aims to improve the socio-economic status of women living in rural areas in Bejaia.
These 34 pieces of equipment will be used in the spice processing workshops to be established for women living in the regions of Beni Mellikeche, Bouhamza, and Ighil Ali in Bejaia, Algeria. 109 women will benefit from the equipment.
In her statement, Zahia Kacher, President of the Association, stated that TİKA’s support was of great importance for women living in rural areas and that the workshops would begin production in the coming days. Kacher stressed that the products to be manufactured by women in the workshops would provide them with significant economic benefits, and noted that this was the first time that they had received support on such a large scale. Kacher thanked the Government of the Republic of Turkey and TİKA for their support.
