TİKA Provides Search and Rescue Training in Nature in Lebanon

Within the scope of the Emergency and Disaster Intervention Training Program (ADAMEP) conducted by Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA), “Basic and Advanced Search and Rescue Training in Nature” were given in Lebanon with the cooperation of IHH (Humanitarian Relief Foundation).

38 people, who are all members of the non-governmental organisations covering Awareness and Consolation, Islam Medicine and Healing and Lebanon Security Association, which continue their activities in various areas of Lebanon participated in the “Basic and Advanced Search and Rescue Training in Nature".

The participants were given theoretical and applied trainings about team organisation, first aid in nature, rappelling techniques, abseil, rescue pulley, use of litters and stretchers in low slope areas, compass and wireless communication.   

ADAMEP is one of the many training projects carried out by TİKA in the fields of health, media, informatics and economic and administrative development in several countries. Organized within the scope of ADAMEP, this project aims to improve Lebanon’s skills in responding disasters and emergencies.

A certificate ceremony was held at the end of the training. Türkiye’s Ambassador to Beirut, Ali Barış Ulusoy, TİKA’s Coordinator in Beirut, Orhan Aydın, İHH’s Disaster Academy trainers, mayors from the region, representatives of diverse political parties and the NGOs as well as locals participated in the ceremony.   

Now, the plan is to move on to the “Advanced Search and Rescue in Nature” training within the scope of Emergency and Disaster Intervention Training Program (ADAMEP) to help Lebanon improve its skills in search and rescue.
