TİKA Provides Ramadan Aid for Needy Families in Georgia

As part of the "Erenler Sofrası Ramadan Program", Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) distributed food packages to thousands of needy families in Georgia.

In her speech about the aid provided by TİKA as part of the program that has been initiated in Georgia, TİKA’s Tbilisi Coordinator Necla Demirdağ said that as TİKA, they have reached out a helping hand from Turkey to the needy people around the world in the month of Ramadan, a time of sharing and solidarity, in 2021 just like every year.

Having stated that they had also set the Erenler Sofrası in Georgia this year in Ramadan, Demirdağ said that a total of 3,525 families were handed out food aid in the regions of Adjara, Shida Kartli, Kvemo Kartli, Guria and Samtskhe-Javakheti, which are populated by the Muslims in the country. Demirdağ recorded that 68 tonnes of aid packages would be distributed to a total of 4,000 needy families in Georgia as part of the program.

Turkey Did Not Forget About Georgia During the Ramadan Aid

Adam Şantadze, the Mufti of Western Georgia who attended the distribution program in Batumi, wished an auspicious Ramadan for all Muslims. Having reminded that Turkey had been sending help to Georgia through TİKA for many years and that TİKA set the Erenler Sofrası for the first time ever in the country, Şantadze said: "For many years now, Turkey has been providing food aid to Georgia and other countries around the world through TİKA. Our nation is grateful to Turkey because they send help to thousands of families."
