TİKA Provides Medical Supplies to Uzbekistan to Combat COVID19

Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) provided medical PPE to healthcare providers in Uzbekistan to combat the outbreak of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Protective coveralls, masks, hats, pairs of gloves, and goggles, 5,000 each, procured by TİKA were delivered to the Uzbekistan National Chamber of Innovative Healthcare, affiliated with Uzbekistan’s Cabinet of Ministers, at a ceremony attended by Turkey’s Ambassador to Tashkent Mehmet Süreyya Er and TİKA’s Tashkent Program Coordinator Cemalettin Tüney.

In his speech at the ceremony, Ambassador Er noted that Turkey has provided medical supplies to nearly 60 countries around the world. He reminded that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spoke to the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev on the phone last week and said that Turkey was ready to provide Uzbekistan with the medical supplies it may need. Stating that the health institutions of the two countries continue to share their knowledge and experience via teleconference during the fight against the outbreak, Er added that they wanted to contribute to the fight of their Uzbek brothers and sisters against the outbreak through TİKA.

Tüney said that they aimed to contribute to the fight of Uzbek healthcare providers against the outbreak with protective coveralls, goggles, pairs of gloves, hats, and masks, 5,000 each. He stressed that TİKA would also implement two new assistance projects, which would be clear examples of their support for Uzbekistan.

Chairman of the National Chamber of Innovative Healthcare Ravshan Izamov stated that Turkey provided Uzbekistan with much-needed PPE even though it also combats the outbreak and needs this equipment. He said this was an indication that the fraternity between the two countries is at the highest level. Finally, Izamov thanked the Turkish government and Turkish people for this assistance.
