TİKA Provides Food Aid to a Maternal and Child Health Center in Cameroon

Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) and the Chantal Biya Foundation, which was established by Cameroon’s First Lady Chantal Biya, distributed food and meals in a maternal and child health center affiliated with the Foundation.

The Chantal Biya Foundation aims to raise national and international awareness about the fight against poverty, diseases, misery, and all kinds of exclusion in urban and rural areas across the country; to help disadvantaged groups in the country; and to eliminate the difficulties they face.

In this context, as part of its Ramadan activities, TİKA provided food parcels for the patients in the Maternal and Child Health Center and their loved ones and for the children residing in the orphanage affiliated with the center. Furthermore, ready-to-eat meals were distributed to all women and children who were being treated.

The ceremony was attended by Volkan Işıkçı, the Republic of Türkiye’s Ambassador to Yaoundé; Burak Özden, TİKA’s Coordinator in Yaoundé; and Habissou Bidoung Mpkatt, Secretary-General of the Chantal Biya Foundation.

The Foundation operates an orphanage hosting 100 children, as well as the maternal and child health center, and distributes hot meals to nearly 1000 people every day.
