TİKA Provides Equipment Support to Yemeni Ministry of Trade and Industry

The building of Yemeni Ministry of Trade and Industry, which was furnished and equipped with technological devices by Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA), was opened.

The opening ceremony of the ministry building located in Aden was attended by Yemeni Minister of Trade and Industry Mohammed Al-Maitami, Vice-Minister Salim al-Vali, Deputy Minister Ali Atouf, TİKA Yemen Coordinator Abdullah Sarı and Aden Deputy Governor and his Assistant.

Minister Maitami thanked President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Turkey, TİKA President and employees, for the equipment support provided to the building after it was damaged in the war and repaired. He expressed that opening this building is a significant step for them. Maitami pointed out that Turkey’s contributions will help the ministry carry out its activities. TİKA Yemen Coordinator Sarı said that the ministry building, which has become ready to serve through TİKA’s support, will bring an economic dynamism to the port city of Aden and hopefully it will boost employment.

The building was damaged in 2015 due to the conflicts between the Houthi movement supporters and the supporters of the official government in Yemen. Later, the building was repaired and TİKA provided office furniture, air conditioners, computers, security cameras and other necessary equipment allowing it to enter into service. The 4-story building in Aden will serve as the Aden regional directorate in the lower two stories and the upper stories will be used for Ministry services.
