Turkey shared its experience in advanced bee products with Algerian specialists in the training course coordinated by Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) and taught by specialists from Ordu Apiculture Research Institute and TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center.

Propolis and other advanced bee products cannot be produced in Algeria but can only be imported. As part of the online training coordinated by TİKA in order to ensure that advanced bee products can be produced in Algeria with local resources, presentations were given by Feyzullah Konak, Director of Ordu Apiculture Research Institute of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry; Samed Okuyan, an agricultural engineer; Fazıl Güney, a food engineer; and Dr. Ayşe Bakan, Chief Specialist and Researcher at the Food Institute of TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center.

As part of the training, in which Turkey’s technical experience was shared with Algerian specialists, Algerian participants were informed about the production and collection of advanced bee products such as propolis, royal jelly, and pollen; processing analysis and techniques; the production of halal propolis; and the activities of TÜBİTAK.

In his statement, Dr. Alparslan Çevik, TİKA’s Algeria Coordinator, noted that this training was just the beginning and that they would train Algerian specialists in Turkey on the production of halal propolis in particular, when the pandemic is over.

In his statement, Prof. Tahar Sahraoui, Deputy Director of the Center for Scientific Research of Algeria, noted that they had been carrying out many activities with TİKA and wanted to improve this cooperation, especially in the production sector.
