TİKA Provided Technical Equipment to the Lebanese Press Editors’ Syndicate

Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) provided technical equipment to the Lebanese Press Editors’ Syndicate.

TİKA provided various pieces of equipment needed in the meeting room in the headquarters of the syndicate, such as a computer, an interactive whiteboard, a printer, and a sound system. The ceremony held for the project was attended by Ali Barış Ulusoy, Türkiye’s Ambassador to Beirut; Orhan Aydın, TİKA’s Coordinator in Lebanon; Joseph Al-Qusaifi, Head of the Lebanese Press Editors’ Syndicate; Turgut Alp Boyraz, Anadolu Agency's Middle East News Editor; and many journalists who are members of the syndicate.

In his short speech at the ceremony, Ambassador Ulusoy noted that TİKA has been active in Lebanon since 2010.

Ulusoy said, “[TİKA] has so far implemented more than 170 projects in Lebanon. We are supporting Lebanese media, especially this syndicate, as much as possible. This project will support press members even a little and improve their productivity.” Ulusoy stressed that Türkiye aims to focus on providing assistance to the people and government of Lebanon. He said, “We have increased our assistance to Lebanon, which is going through critical times.”

TİKA provided the necessary equipment

Orhan Aydın, TİKA’s Coordinator in Lebanon, provided detailed information on the assistance provided to the syndicate. He said, “TİKA provided the necessary equipment to allow the use of the existing meeting room in the headquarters of the syndicate, which has more than 2000 members, also as a training room. Various pieces of equipment, such as a computer, an interactive whiteboard, a printer, and a sound system, were provided for the training room, where press members will be trained on several topics, such as redaction, news writing, and reporting.”

Joseph Al-Qusaifi, Head of the Lebanese Press Editors’ Syndicate, offered his thanks to TİKA for its support. Al-Qusaifi said, “TİKA’s performance in Lebanon will further strengthen the relations between the two countries.” Al-Qusaifi presented plaques to Ulusoy and Aydın to express the appreciation of the syndicate. The ceremony ended with a Q&A session, where members of the syndicate asked Ulusoy their questions about the geopolitical position of Türkiye and the latest issues.
