TİKA Provided a Mobile Mammography Vehicle to Kyrgyzstan

Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) delivered the Mobile Mammography Vehicle to be used in the early diagnosis of breast cancer and gynecological diseases to the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan.

Institutions, organizations, and individuals such as the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Bishkek, Turkish Airlines, Demir Bank, and the Bishkek International Women’s Club (BIWC) contributed to the project, which was implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan and the Public Foundation Ergene.

The delivery ceremony of the Mobile Mammography Vehicle was attended by Secretary-General of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan Kalisbek Shadahanov, the Republic of Turkey’s Ambassador to Bishkek Mehmet Kamil Fırat, TİKA’s Bishkek Program Coordinator Osman Usta, guests including General Managers of Turkish Airlines and Demir Bank in Kyrgyzstan, and many press members.

In his speech, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan Kalisbek Shadahanov stated that the Mobile Mammography Vehicle would facilitate the early diagnosis of breast cancer and cervical cancer in women, and thanked TİKA and all other stakeholders that contributed to the project.

Ambassador Cengiz Kamil Fırat noted that Kyrgyz women who live in rural areas and do not have sufficient access to health services would benefit greatly from this project. He expressed his gratitude to all the institutions and organizations that supported this important project, especially to TİKA.

In his speech, TİKA’s Bishkek Program Coordinator Osman Usta underlined that many women are diagnosed with breast cancer and gynecological diseases and a large number of them die from these diseases in Kyrgyzstan each year. Stating that they were happy to support this project, which met such a critical need, Usta thanked all the stakeholders that contributed.

At the end of the speeches, the Mobile Mammography Vehicle headed to its first place of activity, the city of Tokmok in Chuy Province.

The Mobile Mammography Vehicle, which is equipped with a high-tech digital mammography and gynecology office, will visit every part of Kyrgyzstan, and serve women in rural areas in cooperation with family medicine centers.
