TİKA Opened a Turkish Language Class at One of the Biggest Universities in Kazakhstan

With support from Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA), a Turkish language class was opened at L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan.

Türkiye’s Ambassador to Astana, Mustafa Kapucu, Rector of L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, Yerlan Sydykov, Embassy of Astana Education Counsellor Ömer İnan, TİKA’s Coordinator in Kazakhstan, Hüseyin Hikmet Özdenoğlu, academic staff, and students were present at the opening ceremony of the class, which took place in the university’s main campus.

The classroom is designed with traditional Turkish motifs and equipped with the necessary equipment for education. Turkology students and students interested in the Turkish language will be educated in this class.

In his speech at the opening ceremony, Ambassador Kapucu emphasized that cooperation between the two sister countries, Türkiye and Kazakhstan, continues in every field. He stated, “We need to use our potential to develop this relationship even further.”

TİKA’s Coordinator Özdenoğlu stated that they care about popularizing the Turkish language in Kazakhstan.

Özdenoğlu stated: “Unity of language is essential to bring university students, the greatest strength of Kazakhstan, closer to Türkiye.To form this unity of language, we prioritize Turkish language classes as much as we can.”

Özdenoğlu stated that L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University is one of the biggest and most distinguished universities in the country. He stated: “There is a great demand for the Turkish language in this university, which has approximately 25 thousand students. We saw this demand and launched this class to meet it.In order to teach the Turkish language to the students in the best way possible, lecturers who come from Türkiye will give lessons in this class.”

The ceremony ended with Turkish poems and songs performed by the students.
