04 July 2019TİKA Offers Employment Opportunities to Individuals with Polio and Cerebral Palsy in Serbia
Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) has launched a project for the employment of individuals with polio and cerebral palsy in the city of Uzice in southern Serbia.
The 130-member Uzice Cerebral Palsy and Polio Society, which encourages people with disabilities to meet their own needs, aims to provide employment opportunities for people with disabilities in the region. According to official figures, there are 168 disabled persons who wish to work in Uzice. With the support of TİKA, the society will establish a company with special permission, and it will provide indefinite employment to at least 5 disabled people.
Within the scope of the project, a sulfur chamber, a grinding mill for dried fruits, an apple cutting machine, a vacuum packing machine, a measuring machine, a refractometer, a wheelbarrow, an air conditioning system and a sliding door were provided for the company with special permission.
The project aims to improve the quality of life of people with disabilities and to ensure they have access to equal opportunities and to encourage integration with the local community through income-generating activities.
Because the products to be produced by the company are in demand in the Serbian market, it is envisaged that disabled peoples will be employed on a sustainable ground.
