TİKA Made the Orphans in the Afghan Cities, Belh and Badakhshan Happy

Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) were with the orphans during the Eid al-Adha in Belh and Badakhshan, Afghanistan. Mazar-i Sharif Coordination Office distributed 286 gift packages containing backpacks, stationery equipment and clothes to the orphans.

The first series of the gift packages were distributed to the children staying at the Fayzabad Children’s Home in Badakhshan, Afghanistan. Vice Governor of Badakhshan, Mevlevi Nisar Ahmad Ahmadi, Director of Labour and Social Affairs, Mevlevi Hayrullah Safdar and TİKA’s Mazar-i Sharif Coordinator, Mikail Taşdemir and other responsible officers from the governorship participated in the ceremony.

Vice Governor Ahmadi said, “Türkiye and Turkish people have always sided with Afghans. We are very happy with their help, and it is especially valuable from a religious and humane perspective to make orphans happy during the bairams”. He added that they are grateful to TİKA and Turkish people for their support.  

TİKA’s Coordinator Taşdemir said, “In the month of Ramadan, iftar dinners were given at the Children’s Home in Badakhshan, and food packages were distributed to people in need. Now, things like backpacks and clothes, which children needed, have been provided, and children got happy before the Eid al-Adha. We are very pleased with this. If orphans smile, the whole world smiles. This is how we can protect and look after them”. Taşdemir thanked the authorities for the cooperation and celebrated the festival with children.

The second series of the gift packages were distributed to the children staying at the Children’s Home in Belh, Afghanistan. The Consul General of Türkiye in Mazar-i Sharif, Semih Lütfü Turgut, Director General of Public Security in Belh, Mevlevi Matiullah Seyfullah, Director of Economy, Mevlevi Abdulşukur Cevad, Vice Director of Labour and Social Affairs, Muhammed Hafiz Şerifi, TİKA’s Mazar-i Sharif Coordinator, Mikail Taşdemir, Mazar-i Sharif  Maarif Foundation Boys’ High School Principal, Burak Kazım Mırık, Mazar-i Sharif Religious Affairs Deputy Attaché, Mikail Akboğa, and other responsible officers from the governorship participated in the ceremony that took place on the TİKA’s campus in Mazar-i Sharif.  

The Consul General gave a speech at the ceremony and said, “It is very important to help orphans, and TİKA has always attached importance to giving a hand to orphans within the scope of its development and humanitarian aid projects. All Turkish public institutions side with our Afghan friends, too.” Turgut thanked the authorities for their cooperation and celebrated the festival with children.  

The Director of Economics in Belh also said that they are very happy with the gift packages distributed to the orphans during the bairam. He explained that one of the 220 foreign organizations and institutions that are supposed to be operating in Belh is TİKA. He thanked TİKA for the activities it has carried so far and celebrated the festival with children.

TİKA’s Coordinator Taşdemir, too, thanked the participants and celebrated the festival with children. He said TİKA has always supported orphans and disabled children. He added that TİKA will continue to support them and contribute more to humanitarian and development projects aimed at Afghanistan, Türkiye’s brother country. After the gift packages were distributed, the children extended their thanks and left TİKA’s Mazar-i Sharif campus happily.
