TİKA Installed a 100th Anniversary Technology Room in TRNC

“100^th Anniversary Technology Room”, installed by Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) at Alayköy Primary School in Nicosia, was opened with a ceremony.

As a part of the activities for the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Türkiye, a technology room was installed at Alayköy Primary School with the support of TİKA. The opening ceremony of the “Alayköy Primary School 100^th Anniversary Technology Room”, in which robotic coding will be taught, was attended by the Republic of Türkiye’s Ambassador to Nicosia, Prof. Dr. Metin Feyzioğlu.  The ceremony was also attended by TRNC’s Ministry of National Education and Culture Director of the Department of Primary Education, Hakkı Başarı; Gönyeli Municipality of Alayköy Deputy Chairman, İsmail Kofalı; TİKA’s Coordinator, Havva Pınar Özcan Küçükçavuş; Administration of Alayköy Primary School, and the students. Before the speeches, the school choir sang the song “Cumhuriyet”.

In her speech, the Principal of the Alayköy Primary School, Özden Ünbay, noted that they started teaching robotic coding with a small group 1 year ago, and it was represented in the school activities as well. She stated that they are preparing a project to enable more students to benefit from the Robotic Coding training. With the opening of the technology room, Ünbay emphasized that they became the first and only school among TRNC’s primary schools to have a room like this. Mentioning the previous project of renewing the playground of Alayköy Primary School, Ünbay thanked TİKA for their contribution.

In her speech, TİKA’s Coordinator, Havva Pınar Özcan Küçükçavuş, expressed how proud she is to see that one of the activities for the 100^th anniversary of the Republic of Türkiye is a project in the field of education under the patronage of the Embassy of Nicosia. Küçükçavuş stated that by TİKA’s cooperation with TRNC’s Ministry of National Education and Culture, a joint project is being carried out at 50 primary schools, and training of robotic coding for 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students is in progress.

Director of the Department of Primary Education, Hakkı Başarı said: “This room will be a part of the legacy of the Republic’s 100th anniversary.”. He thanked everyone who put their efforts into this project.

In his speech, Türkiye’s Ambassador to Nicosia, Prof. Dr. Metin Feyzioğlu, stated that the Republic of Türkiye is celebrating its 100th anniversary and moving towards the second century, which will be built by children. Feyzioğlu addressed the students: “We have two flags, two countries, and two states. We are just as responsible as the authorities of TRNC for enabling you to embrace an amazing future.”. He also gave bits of advice to the students.
