TİKA Implemented a Production and Employment Project for Women in Lebanon

On the occasion of International Women's Day, which is celebrated on March 8, Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) opened the traditional food and beverage production and sales workshop built in Tripoli, Lebanon.

The project was carried out in cooperation with Bird of LYF, an NGO that provided humanitarian aid and medical assistance across the country, especially in Tripoli, and renovated houses after the explosion at the Port of Beirut.

TİKA provided copper distillation boilers, dough and other mixers, refrigerators, ovens, display coolers, and various kitchen equipment as part of the project. An e-commerce website and a brand were created as part of the project in order to enable the online sales of products, in addition to the on-site sales.

Rose and flower water, peanut butter, molasses, jam, pomegranate syrup, tea, vinegar, soap, candle, and various baked goods are produced or packed and offered for sale at the production and sales workshop, which has a total of 7 employees, 6 of whom are female. The income generated thanks to the project will be used in the humanitarian assistance activities of the Bird of LYF Association.

The opening program held on the occasion of International Women’s Day was attended by Ali Barış Ulusoy, the Republic of Türkiye’s Ambassador to Beirut; Riad Yamak, Mayor of Tripoli; Orhan Aydın, TİKA’s Coordinator in Beirut; and officials of the association.
