TİKA Implemented a Capacity-Building Project for the Legislative and Parliamentary Research Institute of Uzbekistan

Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) improved the physical capacity of the Legislative and Parliamentary Research Institute under the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan by building a state-of-the-art video conference room.

The Institute was established under the Parliament in 2017 to support the activities of the parliament by presenting scientific data, to prepare reports on draft laws, and to make suggestions for the development of the national legislation by benefiting from the experiences of foreign countries.

With this project, TİKA improved the capacity of the Institute to allow it to carry out the activities expected of it, and ensure the coordination of the legislative activities of all governorships and local councils across the country.

The project, which will benefit members of the parliament, legislators, and members of local councils, enabled online conferences, seminars, and training courses to be held with international institutions and organizations on current issues for the improvement of legislative activities.

The opening meeting of the project was attended by Foziljon Otakhonov, Director of the Institute; Shukhrat Chulliev, Deputy Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Judicial Issues and Anti-Corruption under the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan; Dilorom Fayzieva, Chairperson of the Committee on International Affairs and Inter-Parliamentary Relations of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan; and Cemalettin Tüney, TİKA’s Coordinator.

In his speech at the program, Otakhonov thanked TİKA for strengthening the technical infrastructure of the new building of the Institute with the new video conference room, and allowing online national and international conferences, training courses, and seminars to be held.
