TİKA Helps Flood Victims in Tanzania

In cooperation with Verein Tut Elimi, Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) provided food and cleaning supplies to 300 flood-affected families in Tanzania.

The flood that occurred after heavy rain in Dar es-Salaam, the financial center of Tanzania, negatively affected the people of Temeke District, where infrastructure is severely inadequate and low-income earners make up a large portion of the population.

TİKA and Verein Tut Elimi met the urgent needs of 300 families who were previously selected in coordination with the District Governorship of Temeke, one of the regions most affected by the flood in Tanzania, by providing food and cleaning supplies.

The distribution ceremony was attended by District Governor of Temeke Godwin Gondwe, Verein Tut Elimi’s Representative for Turkey Selman Çeliktaş, and the officials of TİKA’s Dar es-Salaam Office. In his speech at the ceremony, Gondwe stated that he was grateful for the solidarity shown and the support provided to the people of Temeke during these difficult times and that the people of Turkey showed their generosity and benevolence once again.
