27 January 2022TİKA Held Its First Versatile Turkish Course in Uzbekistan
The first Business Turkish and Turkish by Areas of Specialization Course was held in Uzbekistan as part of the Business Education Program (İŞDEP), developed by Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA), Gazi University, and Yıldırım Beyazıt University.
Training program under the main title of "Business Turkish" was considered to be useful for students who would like to study or work in Turkey. The first stage of the program was held in cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of Uzbekistan, the "Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage in Samarkand, and the Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies and attended by a total of 270 students.
As part of the project implemented for individuals in the world of business to have good command of the type of Turkish used in their sectors, and contribute to the development of economic activities and cooperation between Turkey and their countries, a 40-hour training program was held under each of the titles of Turkish for tourism, Turkish for healthcare, Turkish for office and correspondence, and Turkish for management, banking, and international trade.
As part of the project, Turkish courses for different areas of specialization will be held in order to provide the language skills required by the job and establish productive communication channels with our country’s partners in the field of economy, such as managers, staff members, and students at the stakeholder institutions or organizations.
In his speech at the certificate presentation ceremony held at the Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies at the end of the education seminar, Djumali Shabanov, Dean of the Faculty of Turkic Study, noted that Uzbek students were greatly interested in Business Turkish courses and that the demand for the courses was much higher than the estimated number of participants, which was 80. Shabanov stated that they trained more than 250 students in 3 separate groups every day and were proud that their students were the first ones to be trained as part of this program.
In his statements, Cemalettin Tüney, TİKA’s Coordinator in Tashkent, said that the first Business Turkish course abroad was held in Uzbekistan and that young Uzbek people with a high level of proficiency in Turkish would be the most sought-after employees by Turkish companies as the economic and commercial relations between Uzbekistan and Turkey were gradually improving. Stressing that TİKA would organize programs to meet the needs in new industries in 2022, Tüney noted that they would continue to support Turkish education in Uzbekistan.
In his speech at the ceremony, Ahmet Gürkan Karataş, a Turkish teacher, stated that there was a great interest in Turkish in Uzbekistan, his homeland; that the demand for every course was higher than 90%, and that they were glad to see the excitement of the students and their love for Turkey.
Azade Ahmedova, a university student who attended the Business Turkish course, noted that these courses offered an opportunity to get to know Turkey better, and said that he hoped these training courses would continue.
