TİKA Donated a School Bus for Pakistani Students

A school bus was donated to an education and health complex in Pakistan with the support of Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA).

TİKA donated a specially-designed school bus to Rashidabad Education and Health Complex in Tando Allahyar in the province of Sindh, Pakistan.

Established in 1998, the complex houses 10 educational institutions, 5 health institutions, an orphanage, and different vocational training centers.

The school bus, which was put into service, will help students get to school.

The delivery ceremony held for the school bus was attended by Cemal Sangu, Türkiye’s Consul General to Karachi; Halil İbrahim Başaran, TİKA’s Coordinator in Karachi; Shabbir Ahmed Khan, President of Rashid Memorial Welfare Organization; board members of Rashid Memorial Welfare Organization; teachers working in the complex; and students.

In his speech at the ceremony, Consul General Sangu said, “The Turkish people have not forgotten the aid provided by their Muslim brothers and sisters on the subcontinent during their struggle for independence. We are two sister nations and will continue to support one another.”

Halil İbrahim Başaran, TİKA’s Coordinator in Karachi, noted that TİKA has implemented many education projects in Pakistan, as in many other countries around the world, and that the school bus will greatly help children studying in the complex.

After the speeches, the key of the school bus was delivered by Consul General Sangu to Shabbir Ahmed Khan, President of Rashid Memorial Welfare Organization.

The ceremony ended with ney and whirling performances by students wearing local clothes.

More than 130 education projects

TİKA implemented more than 130 education projects in Pakistan from 2007 to 2022. The Agency donated a specially-designed school bus for Pakistani children in 2020 in cooperation with Sahil Welfare Association in order to make it easier for students to get to their schools in the southern cities of Balochistan Province in Pakistan.

Since 2010, TİKA has implemented more than 600 projects in many fields, including education, health, culture, agriculture, technology, water, and sanitation, through its two offices in Islamabad and Karachi in Pakistan. The Agency continues to strengthen the bridges of friendship between itself and Pakistan through new projects.
