TİKA Continues to Support the Education Infrastructure of Afghanistan

Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) renovated and equipped Mawlana Jalaludin Muhammad Balkhi High School, located in Mazar-i-Sharif.

TİKA, which has implemented many projects in the field of education across Afghanistan, renovated the 16-classroom Mawlana Jalaludin Muhammad Balkhi High School in Mazar-i-Sharif and provided student desks and benches in order to improve education and training and ensure that children study in a cleaner and healthier environment.

The opening ceremony of the renovated school was attended by Semih Lütfü Turgut, the Republic of Turkey’s Consul-General to Mazar-i-Sharif; Dr. Mohammad Afzal Hadid, Director of the Provincial Council of Balkh Province; Ahmad Tawfiq Amini, Mayor of Balkh Province; principals of Turkish Maarif Foundation Mazar-i-Sharif Afghanistan-Turkey Boys’ and Girls’ High Schools; provincial director of education of Balkh Province; and other officials.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Mohammad Afzal Hadid, Director of the Provincial Council of Balkh Province, expressed his gratitude to the government and people of the Republic of Turkey for their support for Afghanistan. He also thanked TİKA for renovating the school building, which was unusable.

In his speech, Semih Lütfü Turgut, the Republic of Turkey’s Consul-General to Mazar-i-Sharif, stressed that Turkey will continue to support Afghanistan through projects implemented on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the friendly and diplomatic relations between Afghanistan and Turkey.

Continuing the distribution to schools in other provinces in northern Afghanistan, TİKA will provide a total of 1200 student desks and benches.
