TİKA Built Accessible Elevators at the Underpasses of Tbilisi

Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) built 6 accessible elevators at the underpasses of Philharmonic Hall, Academy of Sciences, and Pushkin Square, located on the Rustaveli Avenue in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia.

The accessible elevators built by TİKA at the central points of Tbilisi were put into service with a ceremony attended by Mayor of Tbilisi Kakha Kaladze, Turkey’s Ambassador to Tbilisi Fatma Ceren Yazgan, and TİKA Tbilisi Coordinator Necla Demirdağ. Speaking at the ceremony held at the underpass in the Freedom Square, Kaladze stressed that this was another project implemented successfully within the framework of the close cooperation between Turkey and Georgia. Expressing his gratitude to Turkey’s Embassy in Tbilisi and TİKA, Kaladze said that their cooperation in this field will continue in the future. Noting that the close cooperation with Turkey began when he served as the Minister of Energy before becoming the Mayor of Tbilisi, Kaladze said, “The relations between the two countries are extremely important. Turkey and Georgia are two friendly countries.” Speaking to an AA correspondent, Yazgan said, “Actually, this is not the end of the project but its beginning. We want to make big differences with small contributions, which are not necessarily financial but rather in the form of kind thoughts.” Yazgan stated that they will continue to collaborate with Georgian authorities to make Tbilisi, which has a rich tourism potential, more accessible.
