19 October 2021TİKA Built a Buuz and Canned Vegetable Plant in Mongolia
Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) built a Buuz and Canned Vegetable Plant for the non-governmental organization “Shine Tosgon Mönkhiin Khögjil,” which was established to support unemployed and widowed women, as well as women with disabilities, living in slums in Darkhan-Uul Province, Mongolia.
The project enabled nearly 4,000 women living in Darkhan to turn the vegetables they grow and the meat obtained from the animals they raise by their own means into finished goods, and to put these products on the market all year round. It also provided employment to 20 women.
The opening ceremony of the plant was attended by Emrah Ustaömer, TİKA’s Ulaanbaatar Program Coordinator; Tulgaa Togtokhsaikhan, District Governor of Darkhan; Enkhbold Samdan, Provincial Director of Social Services of Darkhan-Uul; Bolorzaya Zagdragchaa, Managing Director of the NGO “Shine Tosgon Mönkhiin Khögjil”; members of non-governmental organizations; press members; and local people.
In his speech, Tulgaa Togtokhsaikhan, District Governor of Darkhan, thanked the Turkish people and TİKA for building a fully-equipped plant that will enable women living in the district to come together and produce buuz and canned vegetables by their own means.
Emrah Ustaömer, TİKA’s Ulaanbaatar Program Coordinator, delivered a speech at the opening ceremony and mentioned TİKA’s activities in Mongolia. Noting that TİKA implemented an exemplary project that touches lives and supports production and employment, Ustaömer wished women success.
Bolorzaya Zagdragchaa, Managing Director of the NGO “Shine Tosgon Mönkhiin Khögjil,” stated that the project provided employment to women living in the district and that they were very happy about the launch of the new buuz brand “Shine Tosgon”.
Adding that large supermarket chains in Darkhan-Uul Province offered free shelves for the products manufactured at the plant, Zagdragchaa thanked the Republic of Turkey and TİKA for their contribution, on behalf of the NGO and all women living in Darkhan.
