TİKA’s Volunteer Ambassadors Offered Remedy to Patients in Somalia

Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency’s (TİKA) volunteer students visited activities in Somalian hospitals and offered remedy to patients. 

The group mostly consisting of students studying health sciences was in Somalia as part of the Experience Sharing Program and they visited Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Hospital and Keysaney Hospital to make observations and examine the patients.

The students first attended the presentation by Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Hospital Administrator Mustafa Çopur and later toured the hospital facilities to get detailed information. 

The students examined the patients and listened to their problems under the supervision of doctors in departments such as emergency services, internal medicine, urology, and general surgery. 

The students also visited 100 bed-capacity Keysaney Hospital in the capital city Mogadishu and had the opportunity to compare this hospital run by the State of Somalia with the Recep Tayyip Erdoğan hospital run by the Ministry of Health. 

Experience Sharing Program

The program, which covers the interactions and exchange of experience between students from various universities in Turkey with young people in places where TİKA operates such as Africa, Asia, the Balkans and the Middle East, aims to help students build “bridges of friendship” between the countries.

Approximately 500 students, who will visit 30 countries until September 8 as part of the "2018 Experience Sharing Program" will examine the operations of Turkey and Turkish civil society organizations in these places and they will take part in nearly 100 projects and activities.

Through TİKA’s program, university students visit Niger, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Burkina Faso, Algeria, Djibouti, Chad, Morocco, Ghana, Georgia, Cameroon, Montenegro, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Colombia, Lebanon, Macedonia, Mozambique, Namibia, Uzbekistan, Romania, Senegal, Serbia, Somali, Sudan, Tanzania, Tunisia, Jordan, Moldova and South Africa.
