TİKA’s President Serkan Kayalar said, “We have provided training for more than 600 members of the media through Anadolu Agency so far.”

Serkan Kayalar, President of Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA), made a statement about the cooperation between TİKA and Anadolu Agency in the field of media training.

Commenting on the cooperation between Anadolu Agency (AA) and TİKA in the field of media training, TİKA’s President Serkan Kayalar said, “We have provided training for more than 600 members of the media through Anadolu Agency so far.”

Noting that TİKA strives to share Turkey’s experience in various fields with the world through such institutions, Kayalar said, “In this context, there has been a fruitful collaboration between TİKA and AA for many years, especially in the field of media training. We have provided training for more than 600 members of the media through Anadolu Agency so far. COVID-19 affected the whole world last year, but we continued to organize training courses without interruption.”

Kayalar stated that as part of the cooperation with AA, training courses in various fields have been organized for members of the media from different parts of the world since 2017.

Kayalar noted that more than 300 members of the media participated in 10 training programs conducted in 2020. He also mentioned the “Diplomatic Journalism Training,” which will be held from February 23 to 25.

Kayalar said, “The Diplomatic Journalism Training program will be launched with the participation of members of the media from the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and Bosnia and Herzegovina. We will conduct programs in this field with the experience of AA.”

Stating that they aimed to share Turkey’s experience in the field of media with the world through such training programs, Kayalar said, “AA is a global brand, and we are organizing such programs in order to share its experience in this field with the world.”

Kayalar stressed that their goal was to increase the number of participants incrementally by the end of the year, and said, “We want to enable our country to reach thousands of members of the media from different parts of the world by any means in the coming months.”

Kayalar underlined that these training programs aimed to share the knowledge in the field of media with the participants and to build capacity by putting the experience gained in this field into practice.

337 journalists benefited from the cooperation between AA and TİKA in 2020.

As part of the cooperation between TİKA and AA, several training programs have been conducted in various fields, especially in Defense Journalism, Data Journalism, and Humanitarian Journalism, since 2017.

Within this framework, 337 members of the media benefited from 10 training programs conducted through AA News Academy in 2020. During the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh, the Defense Journalism Training and the Journalism in Conflict Zones Training were held for 48 Azerbaijani journalists through videoconferencing.

As part of the cooperation between the two institutions, various training programs, including the Energy Journalism Training, the Next-Generation Journalism Training, and the Crisis Management in Journalism Training, will be conducted in 2021.
